The first transfer departure from the Hurricanes this year is a Miami native.
Wide receiver Ray Ray Joseph is entering the portal, according to multiple reports. Joseph spent three seasons with the Hurricanes.
Joseph, a Miami Edison alum, played in 26 games for Miami over the past three seasons, but he played in just three games this year.
A former four-star prospect, Joseph was relegated to the bench behind star slot receiver Xavier Restrepo in his first two seasons. This year, star freshman Malachi Toney earned the job ahead of Joseph.
Over three seasons, Joseph had 14 catches for 135 yards and no touchdowns. He was also Miami’s punt and kick returner last year; he had 20 punt returns and nine kick returns over the last three seasons.
Joseph has not played since the Hurricanes’ September win over USF, though he was never listed on Miami’s injury reports.
Joseph said in the spring that he opted to stay at Miami last year because he is a “die-hard” UM fan.
“I’m not with the selfish stuff,” Joseph said. “I waited my turn, and I’m here to help everybody and get everybody together and get everybody on the same page. … A lot of people just up and run when they feel like they ain’t getting what they’re supposed to (get). Me? I’m just loyal — loyal to the program, loyal to the process, just trusting the process, keeping God first and just working.”
