U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick of Miramar was indicted last week on federal charges of stealing $5 million in COVID relief money and using it for political gain to win her seat in 2021. She calls the charges “intimidation tactics” by the Trump administration, directed against “minorities, Black and brown people,” PBS reported.

Some Republicans want to censure or expel the 46-year-old Democrat from Congress. She quickly resigned a leadership post on a House subcommittee, as caucus rules require. The GOP holds a six-seat advantage, 219-213, with three seats vacant. Should she resign or stay in office, and why? We want to hear from you. Send your opinions to letters@sunsentinel.com.
