B’nai Torah Congregation and its Meryl and Ron Gallatin Tzedakah, Learning & Chesed (TLC) Program hosted Mitzvah Day on Nov. 16. Volunteers of all ages came together to give back to the community through a variety of hands-on mitzvah projects.
Attendees participated in blanket making for children at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, created shabbat care packages for hospice patients at Trustbridge, and made crafts for cancer patients with Sharsheret. Organizations like Boca Helping Hands and Meals with Meaning were on site to assist with food insecurity projects and Petals with a Purpose hosted a flower arranging station for seniors.
Other mitzvah projects included making movie kits for Ronald McDonald House, painting kindness rocks with Pandora’s Kids, and writing letters for troops with MSAWI. More than 1,500 people attended the event, creating lasting impact throughout the local community.
“For me, Mitzvah Day is a chance for everyone to see the many unique and varied opportunities available in this community, and they can find their niche and what matters personally to them,” said Summer Faerman, Director of the TLC Program at B’nai Torah Congregation. “Whether you want to feed the hungry, read to children, clean a sneaker, or make a bagel, there is truly something for everyone.”
