Belev Echad is an international nonprofit that provides support to Israel’s wounded Israel Defense Forces soldiers and their families. One of its programs brings soldiers to the United States and treats them to fun activities for two weeks.
On Oct. 20, eight soldiers made their way to Boca Raton, where they were treated to a Kosher meal at Burnt Smokehouse & Bar, followed by a night at Drive Shack in West Palm Beach. The activities were sponsored by the Jewish Culture Club of Palm Chase Lakes in Boynton Beach.
Two club members, Rabbi Steven Roth and his wife, Fern Roth, had a personal connection to the event: IDF soldier Eyal Sterman, 23, who lost his arm in Gaza in August, is their nephew.
“This organization is very instrumental in the recovery for Eyal and available to all injured soldiers,” Fern Roth said.
Other soldiers in attendance included: Maayan Nachmani, 21, a paratrooper who charged into the chaos on Oct. 7, 2023, before being shot in the leg and thigh; Netanel Takele, 21, who was shot in the arm and pelvis that day while stationed in Nahal Oz; and Nadav Shati, 21, who was struck by a missile in December 2023 and suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, hearing loss and a chronic back injury.
In addition to this program, Belev Echad also helps soldiers with physical, medical, legal, emotional and financial support. Visit belevechad.nyc.
