PJ Our Way™ and From March to Miriam created the “Dor L’Door” program, a spin on the Hebrew phrase “Dor L’Dor,” which translates to “from generation to generation.” The program brings together all ages to learn and connect through creative projects.
On Sept. 14, over 130 community members joined together at the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County’s Zinman Hall to explore the meaning of the mezuzah and its role in Jewish life. Holocaust survivors and tweens ages 10-13, along with participants from From March to Miriam, created two mezuzot — one for their homes and one to donate to local families in need.
Survivors also shared their stories with the children. “Watching our PJ Our Way tweens listen to survivors’ testimonies and then transform their own creativity into acts of giving was a reminder that our community is strongest when generations come together,” said Elana Ostroff, Director of PJ Library® South Palm Beach County.
The event supported the Jacobson Family Food Pantry, with participants bringing non-perishable food donations to help local families facing food insecurity.
