Local workers with disabilities and the businesses that employ them already have their month — October’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month. And for the third year, they also have their day.

On Friday, Oct. 3, more than 300 business leaders will gather at Arc Broward’s Third Annual InspHired Luncheon to celebrate the achievements of career-minded individuals with disabilities. Also honored will be local employers who champion inclusive workplaces and a more inclusive Broward community. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale, the luncheon will be presented by UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group), a workforce and human resource management services firm with headquarters in Weston.

Arc Broward, whose inclusivity efforts began 70 years ago, now provides 21 programs across nine locations in the county. The event’s proceeds help to fund education and intensive workforce programming to promote self-sufficiency for individuals with disabilities.

“Our InspHired Awards Luncheon has quickly become one of Arc Broward’s signature events,” says Julie Price, the organization’s president and CEO. “By bringing attention to our workforce programs that benefit employers and workers alike, we hope to create even more opportunities for people with disabilities to pursue meaningful careers.”

The program will also recognize community partners “who go above and beyond to demonstrate the wide-ranging benefits of hiring a diverse workforce,” she adds.

“Employers who partner with us gain access to a pre-qualified pool of job candidates with disabilities who are eager to contribute to the company’s growth,” Price says. “In addition to bridging the labor participation gap, companies report increased workplace productivity, higher revenues, greater job satisfaction figures and enhanced employee loyalty and retention. It’s a win-win.”

From employment assistance to post-secondary education and financial-literacy training, Arc Broward’s comprehensive programs and individually tailored services equip participants with tools and resources to help them overcome potential barriers and set them on a path toward sustained self-sufficiency.

City & Shore is among the event’s sponsors, which also include Amazon, Memorial Healthcare System, Universal Property, Dickinson Wright & Mayersohn Family, Granvita Realty Group, Cintas, Centennial Bank, Publix, Wealth Family Protection, Holman, Banesco, BBX Capital, National Jets, Broten, Miller Construction Co., Dr. Jo Ann M. Bamdas, Modern Luxury, South Florida Business & Wealth, Marsh McClennan, ECR Graphics & Printing and Niroc Consultants Inc.
