Is there a more gratifying, guilt-free way to indulge yourself than by doing it for a good cause?
On Sept. 25, you’ll have a great opportunity to find out.
That’s when Galleria Fort Lauderdale will host the evening of foodie fun and community involvement known as Eat Your Heart Out. The 11th-annual event benefits the Heart Gallery of Broward County, a nonprofit that promotes adoption and enrichment programs for Broward County’s foster youth. The event is presented by BBI (Burdette Beckmann Inc.), a national sales agency headquartered in Hollywood.
From 6 to 8:30 p.m., one of Fort Lauderdale’s favorite foodie festivities will offer guests a diverse selection of gourmet bites and craft drinks, live entertainment, raffle drawings and a silent auction with one-of-a-kind experiences and luxury prizes — all to help local children find permanent homes and thrive. Eat Your Heart Out is the Heart Gallery’s signature culinary fundraiser, as well as its largest and most successful fundraiser overall.
“Every year, Eat Your Heart Out is a celebration of community, compassion and connection,” says Dr. Mary Kinirons, executive director. “It’s also a reminder of the vital mission at the heart of it all — to ensure every child has a safe, loving home. We are thrilled to bring back this beloved and delicious event for its 11th year with the support of local restaurants and sponsors.”
Among those participating restaurants are The Capital Grille, P.F. Chang’s, Sicilian Oven, Sweeter Days Bake Shop and Aquaplex Fort Lauderdale, with more to be announced soon. They join a roster of previous partners that includes Boatyard, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants, Eddie V’s, Tulio’s Tacos and Tequila, Press & Grind Café, Takato, Seasons 52, Moksha, Funky Buddha and Sicilian Oven.
From its inception in 2007 as a traveling photography exhibit of foster youth awaiting adoption, Heart Gallery of Broward County has evolved to provide innovative programs that enrich foster youth lives by recruiting and supporting adoptive families through community partnerships. The Broward organization is one of over 100 independent Heart Galleries nationwide that have helped place over 500 children in loving, permanent homes. The photo gallery from which the organization takes its name has evolved into an online format featuring professional photos and personal biography cards that showcase foster children awaiting adoption.
