Anthony D. Ungerman OBITUARY

Anthony D. Ungerman OBITUARY

Anthony Ungerman, 60, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, in Boca Raton, Florida.

Born in Dallas, Texas, to Nancy and Jay Ungerman, he spent his early years surrounded by love and family. He grew up with two older sisters, Carrie and Leslie, a younger brother, Garin, and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who were like siblings to him. He loved his family more than anyone and was blessed to celebrate his last birthday with all his extended family.

In his mid-20s, Anthony relocated to Miami, Florida, where he met his neighbor, Marisa. Their love story would quickly evolve into that of a family, where they’d welcome three girls, Katya, Bianca, and Sabrina, and eventually grandchildren. For thirty-five years, he shared his life with his best friend, Marisa, and the family they built together was his pride and joy.

From an early age, Anthony was passionate about computers. Since receiving his first computer for his Bar Mitzvah in 1978, he never went a day without embracing technology. He was always a man ahead of his time. He would go on to receive a college degree from UT Austin, which would translate into a long and successful career in software engineering and later cybersecurity. In recent years, he invested time into learning artificial intelligence. From early in his career, he received numerous patents. While he excelled in his career, he was never elitist. He was always excited to welcome new people into his world, educating them and opening doors where he could. He made sure to speak for the underrepresented when no one else would and cared for them even when no one was watching.

Above all else mentioned, Anthony was a loving, funny, kind, brilliant, pragmatic, honest, compassionate, and generous family man. He was always the funniest and smartest person in the room. He loved Billy Joel, chess, the Dallas Cowboys, poker, reading, and video games. He was passionate about LGBTQ+ rights, specifically trans rights, and welcoming women into the world of computer science. He was extremely proud of his three girls and their respective successes. There is not enough time, nor words, to encapsulate who he was and everything he contributed to the world. In the last years of his life, he often discussed how happy he was: a fulfilling career, successful and happy children, and a shared new life as grandparents with beautiful wife, Marisa. Every day started and ended with a shared meal with his wife and cats. Life was good.

He is survived by his wife, Marisa; daughters and their respective spouses, Katya (and her husband), Bianca (and Conor), and Sabrina, and his grandchildren; as well as his parents, Nancy and Jay (Eddi), siblings Carrie (Arthur), Leslie (Alex), and Garin.
