Tony grew up in Fox Point, where his parish priest at Our Lady of the Rosary Church offered him a scholarship to attend Lasalle Academy. He credits this with changing the trajectory of his life and career. He went on to attend the Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy, graduating in 1953. Following graduation, he served five years in the Navy on a mine sweeper before beginning his career as a Merchant Seaman in the private sector. He ended his career as Captain, working on a super oil tanker in Alaska. He loved to regale family and friends with tales of his many adventures on the sea, travelling the world.

Tony was active on the Heritage Committee of St. Martha’s Parish in East Providence. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, South Attleboro Council # 5876 and was also a communicant of St. Thomas More Church in Boynton Beach.

The family would like to recognize the exceptional care Tony received from Visiting Nurse Home Health and Hospice, allowing him the dignity of living independently as long as possible, and the compassionate caregivers at Hattie Ide Chaffee Home who guided him through his final days.
