Steve Eliot OBITUARY
On November 21st. Steve Eliot, 88 years young, died peacefully at home after a long struggle with Parkinson’s Disease. With art degrees from Yale and the Maryland Institute of Art, he taught digital art, painting, drawing and art appreciation at Broward Community College. Very popular with students, his classes filled rapidly, and more than a few students retook them because they were fun and inventive. Often, when he was out and about, ex-students would greet Steve and he would quiz them about bringing art into their lives. Then he would say he might have to change their grades if they weren’t doing art.To those students, we send the the message “See Ya Monday!”
Away from work, Steve loved sailing his boats to the Bahamas, the islands of the Caribbean, the Keys or just local cruising. Steve loved international travel, RVing, cruise ships and skiing the icy east, the west. France and Italy. Steve could build or repair anything and around the neighborhood, he was known for volunteering to help out the neighbors.
Steve was a loving father to Ariel Eliot and her husband Scott Crowley, a fun loving life partner to Joan Smith, a good friend to the Duffus family, and many others. He will be sorely missed by all.
