Matthew N. “Matty” Mauriello OBITUARY

Matthew Nicholas “Matty” Mauriello, age 101 (minus 4 days), of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL passed away peacefully early morning on Friday, November 7, 2025, at his residence. He was born November 11, 1924, in Bronx, NY to the late Albert and Mary Mauriello.

Having lost his parents at a young age, Matty learned to live in the moment, go after what he wanted with determination and never hold a grudge. He loved his family, his country, dancing, golf, his friends, laughter, and winning at cards. He loved life, and it loved him right back.

After serving in WWII, Matty met his one true love, Marie Helen “Bunny” Mascali, on a blind date. Married in 1949, they raised a beautiful family and resided in New York and Florida over seven decades together. A respected, successful paving contractor, active in industry organizations and labor relations over 60 years, he was a member of Rotary International, honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.

Preceded in death by his wife, Matty is surely happy in heaven with her now. He is dearly missed by his six children and their spouses: Mark Mauriello, Carol Mauriello & Suzanne McSherry, Linda Mauriello, Janice & Len Barden, Matt & Mary Beth Mauriello, and Andrea & John Maiorano; his 10 grandchildren: Christopher, Nicole, Rita, Alexandra, Amanda, Anthony, Nicholas, Rebecca, Julianna, and Lenny; as well as his 10 great-grandchildren.

His devoted caregivers in Florida watched over him for the past 7 years with tender care and attention, becoming part of his extended family.
