Scott I. Cowan OBITUARY

Scott I. Cowan, 79, of Plantation, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. Born on January 16, 1946 in Manhattan, he grew up in Miami-Dade before moving to Broward, where he began a career in public service on the Davie Town Council in 1978. He later served on the Broward County Commission from 1982 to 2000. Known for his intellect, strategic thinking, dry wit, and love of crossword puzzles and history, he helped guide Broward County through major growth. He is survived by his loving daughters, Amanda Cowan, Courtney Cowan Ostroff (Greg), and Caroline Cowan Lane (Patrick), and grandchildren Emry, Reese, Connor, Elodie, and Sullivan. A Celebration of Life will be held at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El on Monday, December 1 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
